City-based tribal school, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), emerged champions in the Touraid U-13 Girls` International Rugby Festival, beating Hockerill College (UK) 10-4 in the final at Saracens` Allianz Park in London earlier yesterday.
KISS girls were a class above others, conceding only one try through the group stage. On their way to the final, they defeated Birchwood High School, Danes Hill High School, Hemel Hempstead High School (all UK); Marchand Comb (St Lucia), Trinidad and Tobago, Bawala (Uganda). The win against the spirited Bawala team came in the sudden death after play in the full time ended in 5-5 draw.
The day-long tag-rugby festival had the participation of eight foreign teams and 12 teams from UK. Teams played against each other in a series of eight-minute matches. Other seven foreign teams belonged to Brazil, Colombia, Hong Kong, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, Swaziland and Uganda.
